Job summary

Autism A Chara in Naas, Co. Kildare, is seeking a Social Care Worker to support individuals with autism in our respite service. You’ll work on a rota including evenings and weekends, driving service vehicles where required.

The role requires a QQI level 7 in Social Care, CORU registration or to apply, and experience with complex needs. You’ll join a team committed to person-centred care and community integration.

Qualifications

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice is essential.
• CORU registration or application in progress for Social Care Worker.
• Evidence of SIX months+ experience supporting people with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with autism in daily living and routines.
• Deliver person-centred care according to PCPs and care plans.
• Work on a rota including evenings, weekends and nights.
• Assist with community engagement and skills learning.

Essential criteria for the position of Social Care Worker:

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential
• Eligible to register with CORU as a Social Care Worker
• At least six month's recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs
• Availability to work shifts on a rota basis including evenings and weekends and waking night duty shifts
• Full, clean Irish drivers licence essential with requirement to drive service vehicles
• Permission to work in Ireland essential

Qualifications required for a Social Care Worker:

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential, (or relevant schedule 3 qualification as listed on CORUs website) with at least 6 months recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs; OR
• A relevant 3rd level qualification at degree level i.e. Social Work/Psychology with at least 2 years recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs; AND
• Proof of successful registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker
  • OR proof of application in progress with CORU.

Skills/Abilities required of a Social Care Worker:

• Proven knowledge of current legislation and regulations relating to the Social Care Sector
• Understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with autism
• Proven ability to work on own initiative
• Proven experience in the implementation and development of support/care plans and PCP’s
• Places the needs of the person supported as the key focus in all activities
• Delivers support according to the person’s PCP and care plan
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills
• Full, clean drivers licence essential with requirement to drive service vehicles
