Job summary

highr is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our on-site team for a large-scale residential project in Co. Mayo.

You will own engineering activities on site, manage junior engineers, liaise with subcontractors, ensure technical accuracy, and contribute to safe, timely project delivery. The ideal candidate has a Civil/Construction Engineering degree and 2–3+ years’ site engineering experience in Ireland or the UK, with strong setting out, surveying, and CAD skills, plus a valid Irish/UK

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or related field.
• 2–3+ years’ site engineering experience on building or commercial projects in Ireland/UK.
• Strong setting out and surveying experience; proficient with AutoCAD and surveying instruments.
• Full Irish/UK driving licence and good communication skills.

• Interpret and implement design drawings, specifications and construction plans.
• Manage quality control on site; maintain QA records and as-built drawings.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our project team on a large-scale residential construction project in Co. Mayo. The successful candidate will take ownership of engineering activities on site, manage junior engineers, liaise with subcontractors, ensure technical accuracy, and contribute to the safe and timely delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee setting out, levels, and surveying activities using GPS, Total Station, and AutoCAD.
• Interpret and implement design drawings, specifications and construction plans.
• Manage quality control on site; maintain detailed QA records and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with project management, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and site staff.
• Implement health, safety and environmental standards in compliance with company and statutory policies.
• Track construction progress, highlighting risks and resolving design or technical issues.
• Complete RFI submissions, method statements, ITPs, and daily site reports.
• Ensure materials comply with specs and approve technical submittals.
• Attend site meetings and support programme planning with site management.

Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related discipline.
• 2/3+ years’ experience in site engineering on building or commercial projects in Ireland or the UK.
• Strong setting out and surveying experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and surveying instruments.
• Strong knowledge of BCAR, Irish Building Regulations, and construction standards.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams and work to tight project deadlines.
• Full Irish/UK driving licence.
