InterSearch Ireland partners with a leading medical device organisation to appoint a Technology Development Manager. This senior R&D leadership role will guide a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, advancing innovative materials and technologies for current and future product platforms.

You will define and manage the technology development portfolio from concept to transfer readiness, lead applied research and feasibility assessments, mentor staff, and collaborate across Product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with substantial experience in R&D or technology development.
• Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience in research, development or technology development roles.
• Proven track record leading applied research or technology development programmes.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and technical leadership in the development and application of advanced materials and technologies for medical devices.
• Define and manage the technology development portfolio from concept evaluation to transfer readiness.
• Lead applied research, scientific investigations and technology feasibility assessments with robust technical decision-making.
• Lead, develop and mentor a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
• Partner across Product Development, Engineering, Operations, Quality and Marketing to integrate technologies into viable product solutions.
• Establish technical standards and ensure scientific rigour.
• Manage external collaborations, suppliers and academic/commercial partners.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including EU MDR and FDA.
• Develop and manage research budgets balancing innovation, risk and financial stewardship.
• Set technical direction aligned with business strategy.
