Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to shape the shared storage layer of a high-throughput OLTP database. You will design how committed transactions are materialized to cloud storage and how data is reclaimed, working with AWS to leverage cloud-native technologies.

You will own end-to-end delivery, mentor engineers, and build monitoring and automation to keep services reliable. Strong distributed-systems experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in professional software development.
• Experience in development in the last 3 years.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Experience leading the architecture and design of new and current systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate the distributed shared storage layer that holds the durable copy of every committed write for Amazon's mission-critical OLTP database platform.
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers to define technical solutions for storage engine design, durability and consistency protocols, read-path caching, and backpressure under load.
• Own end-to-end delivery of features from design to production readiness and deployment.
• Mentor engineers through design and code reviews and help scale the system.
• Build monitoring, alarming, and automation to keep high-throughput services reliable and participate in on-call rotations.
