Elasticsearch is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Storage Engine team. You will design, implement, and optimize Elasticsearch’s core storage and query engine, focusing on high-performance, scalable databases and distributed systems for observability workloads.

You will lead architectural evolution, mentor engineers, and collaborate across globally distributed teams while driving continuous improvements in storage, indexing, and query execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural evolution of core storage engine components, resolving indexing performance bottlenecks.

• Drive architectural clarity across the platform through clean coding practices and reduced complexity.
• Serve as SME and mentor within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with domain experts to triage, resolve, and review issues.
