Job summary

St. Michael’s House invites applications for a Senior Speech & Language Therapist within the Children’s Disability Network Team. This role covers 1 WTE Ballymun Special National School Pilot in Ballymun CDNT and 0.5 WTE Coolock CDNT, with a panel created for future opportunities across the 4 CDNTs.

The SLT will join a large, vibrant SLT discipline delivering evidence-based communication and FEDS services, within a supportive, inter-disciplinary team and strong clinical governance framework.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience of working with children with a variety of complex needs.
• Minimum of post-graduate working experience as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary team framework.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and targeted supports to children and their families.
• Be part of a large interdisciplinary SLT team delivering evidence-based communication and FEDS service.
• Work across CDNT settings with a well-supported clinical governance structure.

A panel will be created for future employment opportunities, across the 4 St Michael’s House Children’s Disability Network Teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Speech and Language Therapists to join our teams in supporting children and their families, presenting with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical, and/or sensory disabilities.

The Speech and Language Therapist is a valuable member of the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) who provide a quality evidence-based service in line with family centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles.

Working within a large supportive inter-disciplinary team across a variety of clinical settings the SLT will provide a combination of direct and targeted supports to children and their families. The SLT will be part of a large, vibrant, SLT discipline across St. Michael’s House who are committed to delivering an evidence-based communication and FEDS service to maximise the quality of life of the children and families they work with.

St Michael’s House CDNTs have the following supports and structures available for Senior SLTs joining our CDNTs:

• Excellent clinical governance structures including regular CDNM line management and clinical supervision from SLT Head of Discipline.
• Structured and funded CPD systems to support professional development goalsincluding access to courses such as Hanen, Lámh, and Early Bird.
• Opportunity to further develop skills within a dynamic and varied clinical caseload including early communication development, use of high-tech AAC systems, neuro-affirmative therapeutic approaches, Aversive Feeding and FEDS.
• Opportunities to implement FEDS clinical competencies within a large, well-established paediatric FEDS team including Paediatrician, Dietetics and Clinical Specialist FEDS SLT.

Salary Scales are in line with HSE Consolidated Pay Scales.

• Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above
