Job summary

Saint John of God Intellectual Disability Dublin South East Services is seeking a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join an established MDT. The role involves assessment and intervention in communication and feeding and swallowing, for adults with intellectual disabilities, with supervision by experienced staff.

The position is on-site in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, with a permanent, full-time contract and a salary range of €65,197 to €76,767 per year.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with CORU registration.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience including Intellectual Disability.
• Dysphagia qualification with at least 6 months post‑graduate experience in adult dysphagia.

Responsibilities

• Engage with service users to assess and intervene in communication.
• Support communication partners, care staff, families and communities.

Saint John of God Community Services Dublin South East provides a network of education, training, employment, respite and community living supports to adults with intellectual disabilities in South Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an established Adult Services MDT to support our service users to live meaningful lives The SLT role involves engaging with service users in enhancing quality of life through assessment and intervention in communication and FEDS, as well as supporting communication partners, care staff, families and communities.

Candidates must have:

• A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and CORU registration
• A minimum of 3 years satisfactory post qualification experience including experience in Intellectual Disability
• Have a qualification in dysphagia with at least 6 months' post graduate experience working in adult dysphagia.
• A keen interest in Adult Intellectual Disability Initiative, flexibility, enthusiasm and resourcefulness.
• Be responsible and accountable and have proven experience to properly discharge the functions of the role in line with best practice and professional standards.
• The ability to work as a part of a team providing supports for people with complex needs.
• Full clean Irish Driver's License with access to own car.

Desirable Experience:

• Have completed Lmh training
• Have experience related to Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
• Have experience in delivering Staff Training Programmes.
• Have experience in supporting people who communicate through behaviours that challenge.
