Job summary

SYSTRA in Ireland is seeking a Senior/Principal Rail Consultant to join our Dublin office, with flexibility to base in Cork. The role sits in a hybrid model balancing home and office collaboration and focuses on advising on rail schemes and transport planning across the island of Ireland.

You will lead advisory work, manage multiple projects, and develop option reports within Transport Appraisal Framework, working with clients such as Irish Rail, NTA and TII.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 8 degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in rail consultancy and project delivery.
• Approach to Chartered Engineer progression or equivalent.
• Ability to prepare scheme option reports aligned with appraisal frameworks.
• Experience with regulatory processes such as Railway Order or related acts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage small projects with potential lead on larger schemes.
• Advise on rail in land use, mobility hubs and TOD.
• Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders to reach consensus.
• Ensure projects meet objectives, deadlines, and budgets.
• Prepare technical deliverables and reports with support from engineering disciplines.
