Elite Talent Hub is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading international contractor’s commercial team in Kildare, Ireland. The role is hybrid with one day weekly in the office.

Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for large civil projects, reviewing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with multiple teams to ensure accurate, competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Strong numeracy and attention to detail for cost estimation and value engineering.
• Experience preparing tender submissions and Bills of Quantities for civil/infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with NEC or other standard forms of contract; reading drawings and specifications.

• Review tender docs, drawings and specs to understand scope, risk and buildability.

• Identify commercial risks/opportunities and present tender submissions with qualifications.

Job description

Elite Talent Hub is a specialist in permanent staffing solutions for clients both nationally and internationally.

On behalf of our client, a leading international engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering large-scale civil engineering, energy transmission and distribution, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a hybrid role, based from the client's Kildare office one day per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, tender pricing and bills of quantities for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, from early-stage bids through to contract award.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to fully understand project scope, risk and buildability.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades to build competitive, fully substantiated tenders.
• Liaise closely with commercial, design and operations teams to ensure estimates reflect the proposed construction methodology.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering options at tender stage.
• Prepare and present tender submissions, including qualifications, exclusions and clarifications.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients and main contractors as required.
• Support the handover of awarded projects to the commercial and project delivery teams.
• Maintain accurate cost databases and benchmarking data to inform future tenders.

Requirements:

• HND/Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or a time-served Estimator/QS looking to step up, ideally within civil engineering, energy/infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant estimating or quantity surveying experience.
• Solid knowledge of NEC and/or other standard forms of contract.
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings and specifications.
• RICS/ICES/CIOB membership (or working towards) an advantage.
• Highly numerate, accurate and detail-focused, with strong commercial awareness.
