Job summary

ESB’s Networks & Civil, Environmental Engineering Department seeks a Quantity Surveyor to manage cost, contract and commercial risk for civil infrastructure projects. You will liaise with ESB partners, drive cost control, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high standards across project lifecycles.

The role requires a Level 8 Quantity Surveying degree, at least five years post-graduate experience, and flexibility to travel within Ireland.

Qualifications

• Five years post-graduate experience or more.
• Good knowledge of administering main contract conditions including FIDIC.
• Experience in cost estimation, tendering, post-tender evaluation and pre-contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial advice on contracts and risk management for ESB infrastructure projects.
• Mentor junior staff and enhance collaboration across teams.
• Drive continuous improvement on cost management and contract processes.
• Deliver full commercial management services across project lifecycles for high-value ESB networks projects.
• Prepare tender enquiries, assess bids, and work with procurement on large contracts.
• Monitor costs and advise on cost accruals versus capex approvals.
• Negotiate complex commercial matters to deliver stakeholder value.
