Job summary

Global Professional Consultants seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Cork to oversee civil infrastructure and marine/renewable projects. You will advise on contractual matters, manage claims, and drive commercial performance across multiple sites.

With 5+ years’ experience in Ireland or the UK, you will coordinate subcontractor engagements, prepare cost reports, and ensure timely final accounts, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety in delivery.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience on civil engineering projects in Ireland or the UK.
• Must hold a Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification.
• Ability to meet demanding time and quality targets with good IT skills.

Responsibilities

My client, Ireland’s leading Civil & Marine Engineering contractors are now searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based in Cork working on various large-scale civil infrastructure/marine/renewable projects.

Role:

• Advise on contractual matters – general and project level.
• Process contractual claims and all associated records.
• Look for opportunities to maximise revenue and reduce cost and identify and investigate losses.
• Assist with project cash management.
• Advise and support with project correspondence.
• Negotiate and agree subcontractors.
• Negotiating subcontract and suppliers’ prices and terms.
• Ensure final accounts are closed in a timely manner.
• Ensure timely drafting of commercial/contractual correspondence.
• Prepare subcontract and suppliers documents.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports.
• Ensure Risk Registers, variation trackers and extension of time tracker sheets are reviewed and updated monthly and included within monthly reports.
• Negotiating subcontractors and suppliers final accounts.
• Variations: Measurement and pricing.
• Variations: Negotiate with client, quantity surveyor and subcontractor

Requirements:

• At least 5 years’ experience in Ireland or the UK on civil engineering projects
• Must have a Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification.
• An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets.
• Good IT skills with competency using Cubit, Cost-ex or equivalent,
• Microsoft Word and Excel
• A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
• Ability co-ordinate several different projects at the same time.An understanding and experience of construction procedures, methodology & specifications is essential.
