Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Meath building project. You will lead on-site delivery, manage a large team and ensure client requirements are met with top safety and quality standards.

In this role, you’ll drive sustainability from design through delivery, engage with clients and design teams, and collaborate with the commercial manager on site decisions, budgeting and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field.
• Certifications (e.g., CIPS) are a plus.
• 3–5 years procurement, sourcing or buying in construction preferred.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier negotiations.
• Proficiency with procurement software/ERP (Coins or SAP).
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Familiarity with e-procurement platforms and online tendering.

• Overall responsibility for management of one large-scale site.
• Deliver project while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Focus on sustainability from design through delivery.
• Communicate effectively with client and design team; lead on-site decisions with commercial manager.
• Prepare Project Execution Plan, contracting strategy, programme, budget and risk plan.
• Manage daily site operations and project budget with the QS.
• Coordinate stakeholders including authorities and JV partners.
• Implement best practice in project controls, reporting and performance.

Making Possible

• Overall responsibility for the Management of one of the large-scale sites reporting directly to the Construction Director.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of the project, managing a large staff and ensuring that the client’s requirements are met whilst maintaining the highest Safety, Quality and environmental standards.
• The project must be delivered with a focus on sustainability. From design through delivery.
• The ability to communicate effectively with both client and design team.
• Be the main Point of contact for the client with responsibility for engaging with the client in conjunction with the commercial manager on site commercial decisions.
• Provide leadership to the project construction team to ensure works are carried out to the required quality, Health & Safety, and environmental standards, in full compliance with the Planning Permission. Preparation of the Project Execution Plan including Contracting Strategy, Programme, budget, and risks mitigation plan.
• Responsible for managing the daily operation of the site.
• Management of the Project Budget and Contract Administration in conjunction with the Project Quantity Surveyor.
• Programme management and adjustment of programmes as required to facilitate any changes (In conjunction with project planner/programmer).
• Liaison with Planning/Development Team to ensure project value-engineered during the Pre-Construction Stage.
• Management of the Project Design Team during construction to ensure coordination ofinformation flow to the site teams.
• Coordination of key project stakeholders including statutory authorities and liaison with JV Project partners if necessary.
• Implementation of best practice in project controls, performance management, and Project Reporting.

What do you bring to the role?

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, iipmm, or equivalent) are a plus.
• Ideally 3-5 years of procurement, sourcing, or buying experience in the construction industry is preferred, but not essential.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier negotiations is required.
• Proficiency in procurement software or ERP systems (e.g., Coins or SAP).
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with e-procurement platforms and online tendering processes.
