Job summary

Stewart Construction in Ireland seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team on large-scale projects. You will lead commercial activity, manage value reporting, payments, cashflow, and change control, liaising with clients and design teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years as a Quantity Surveyor, with exposure to RIAI/GCC contracts, strong IT proficiency, and a full driving licence. A Safepass is desirable and a permanent, on-site role on major developments is offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a QS role.
  • Contractually and commercially astute.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, dealing with clients and design teams.
  • Experience administering RIAI, GCC & Bespoke forms of contract.
  • IT literate.
  • Experience with Cubit, CostX & COINS software packages preferable.
  • Full driving licence required.
  • Safepass and Manual Handling certification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly Value Cost Reconciliation and Forecasting reports.
  • Oversee preparation and agreement of monthly project Payment Claims.
  • Coordinate internal and external project cashflow information.
  • Handle Change Control including change identification and negotiation.
  • Identify and quantify effects of Delay and Disruption on projects.
  • Monitor ongoing commercial aspects during the project.
  • Act as Commercial Lead on the project.
  • Liaise with Clients and Client Representatives.
  • Administer contract provisions and notifications.
  • Prepare and issue Sub Contracts.
  • Commercial management of Sub Contractors and Suppliers.
  • Negotiate and agree Sub Contractor final accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.

Job description

Stewart Construction, one of Ireland’s leading main contractors with over 120 years of experience, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team.

This role offers the opportunity to work within an established site team on large-scale construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture on site, ensuring all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and in line with company and statutory requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Managing the production of monthly Value Cost Reconciliation and Forecasting reports.
  • Managing the preparation and agreement of monthly project Payment Claims.
  • Managing the preparation of Internal and External Project Cashflow information.
  • Managing Change Control including change identification and negotiation.
  • Identifying and quantifying the effects of Delay and Disruption on projects.
  • Monitoring all ongoing commercial aspects during the course of the project.
  • Assuming the role of a Commercial Lead on a project.
  • Liaising with Clients and Client Representatives.
  • Administering the provisions of the Contract in respect to notifications.
  • Compiling and Issuing Sub Contracts
  • Commercial management of Sub Contractors and Suppliers
  • Negotiating and agreeing Sub Contractor final accounts
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
Education (either of the following)

Degree in Quantity Surveying

General Construction or Engineering Degree with 8+ years surveying

QS conversion MSc

Requirements
  • Minimum 8 year's experience in a QS role
  • Contractually and commercially astute

  • Experience administering RIAI, GCC & Bespoke forms of contract
  • IT Literate
  • Experience with Cubit, CostX & COINS software packages preferable
  • Previous experience working on high quality medium and large scale projects in various sectors Industrial, Health, Pharma, Commercial & Education
  • A full driver's licence is required for this role.
  • Valid Safepass and Manual Handling certification desirable
