• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites
• Drive testing activities across the full software development lifecycle
• Build and enhance automated regression coverage for APIs, integrations, and end-to-end workflows
• Perform functional, integration, API, and non-functional testing
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Investigate defects and quality issues through to resolution
• Support release validation, production readiness, and post-release verification activities
• Contribute to testing strategy, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage, test reliability, and delivery efficiency
• Mentor and support junior QA team members where appropriate

Albany Beck is partnering with a leading Financial Technology organisation to recruit a Senior QA Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering critical transaction processing and digital payment solutions used at scale.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced Quality Engineer who is passionate about automation, software quality, and engineering excellence. You will work alongside developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to ensure robust testing practices are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle, helping to deliver reliable, high-availability applications in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will take ownership of quality assurance activities across multiple applications and services. You'll play a key role in designing automated testing solutions, improving release confidence, and driving quality standards across engineering teams.

This position offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and complex distributed systems while influencing how quality is delivered across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites
• Drive testing activities across the full software development lifecycle
• Build and enhance automated regression coverage for APIs, integrations, and end-to-end workflows
• Perform functional, integration, API, and non-functional testing

Required Experience

• 5+ years' experience in Software Testing or Quality Engineering
• Strong automation testing experience using Java
• Experience with Cucumber and TestNG
• Strong REST API testing experience
• Solid SQL skills with experience validating complex data flows
• Experience testing distributed or service-based applications
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments and modern software delivery practices
• Strong troubleshooting, defect investigation, and root cause analysis skills
• Postman
• WireMock, Mountebank, or similar service virtualisation tools
• JMeter or other performance testing tools
• Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD tooling
• Git or BitBucket
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Elastic, Kibana, or similar monitoring platforms
• Experience within Financial Services, FinTech, or Payments environments
