Job summary

Trust in SODA is seeking a Senior QA Engineer on a 6-12 month contract basis to join a high-performing engineering team building real-time, high-availability payment systems. The role emphasizes automation across web, API, and service testing, with ownership of testing throughout the SDLC in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of QA experience, strong API/UI/DB testing skills, and hands-on experience with Java, Cucumber, Postman, and CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing / quality engineering.
• Strong experience in test automation for web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Cucumber, REST API testing, SQL Server / SQL, TestNG, Postman.
• WireMock / Mountebank or similar mocking / service virtualisation tools.
• JMeter or other performance testing tools; CI/CD tools such as Jenkins; Version control such as Git / Bitbucket.
• Docker and Kubernetes; Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; Elastic / Kibana for monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and test suites for web, API, and service-based applications.
• Own testing activities across the full SDLC: requirements analysis - test design - automation - execution - defect management - release validation.
• Build and maintain robust automated regression coverage for API, integration, and end-to-end workflows.
• Validate quality in low-latency, highly available systems with a strong focus on stability, accuracy, and production readiness.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product teams, DevOps, and other QA engineers to ensure quality outcomes across multiple teams.
• Drive defects and quality issues to resolution with a strong ownership mindset.
• Contribute to test strategy, quality standards, release confidence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review applications and test coverage proactively to identify quality gaps, flaky tests, test data issues, performance risks, and automation opportunities.
• Support production validation, issue triage, and root cause analysis where needed.

Location: Dublin, Ireland - 2/3 days per week in office

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6-12 month contract with extension

Daily Rate: €400 - €450 per day

Summary

We are hiring a Senior QA Engineer (Contractor) to join a high-performing engineering team building real-time, high-availability payment systems. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical depth, ownership, and the ability to improve quality from day one. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience across test automation, API testing, UI testing, integration testing, performance testing, SQL validation, mocking/stubbing, CI/CD, and production-quality engineering practices. They should be able to clearly demonstrate their technical decision-making with practical examples.
