ESB in Dublin/Cork seeks a Senior Substation Engineer to lead high voltage transmission and distribution design projects. You will manage design deliverables, safety coordination, and stakeholder engagement across multiple locations, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

The Senior Substation Engineer willbe requiredto have strong project management and technical design background, detailed knowledge of internal safety procedures and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Responsibilities will cover the items below:
The key responsibility of the role is to providehigh qualitydesigns, safetycoordinationand act as the Lead Engineeron a diverse range of electricity transmission and distribution development projects. This includes:
Overall responsibility for leading and delivering substation designs, design meetings and all programme deliverable, budgetary and quality requirements
Providing technical support to colleaguesin the area ofsubstation design,meetings and ensuring the verification of designs issued within the group
Management and coordination of technical,commercialand financial aspects of the project with all internal and external stakeholders
Overall responsibility for safety as Project Supervisor Design Stage (PSDP). Preparation & review of design risk assessments and project H&S plans for design & construction teams
A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivering results within a tighttime framewhilst ensuring the safety and quality of the project is notimpacted
The ability to manage and coordinate inputs from a range of engineering disciplines and key stakeholders, to act as the Lead Engineer ona number ofprojects.

We are looking for the followingskills;
5 years' plus relevant experiencein a wide range ofsubstationdesign including transmission and distribution substations.
A strong understanding of all elements ofsubstationtendering andtender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing,constructionand commissioning
Strong project management and contract management skills and knowledge
Experience incontrol &protectionsystems,auxiliarypowersystems (AC/DC),powertransformers and orreactors.
Full drivers licenceand access to a car.
Understanding and experience of the PSDP/CDMC processes.
The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
It is desirable that the candidate has achieved the following:
PSDP Competency (or CDMC equivalent).
Either level 8 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within thejurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration,on at least two days per week.
This role is based in the ESB E&MP Dublin or Cork office but regular travel to project locations asrequiredis a key requirement of the role.
