Job summary

ESB is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Networks HV Substations Civil Team in Ireland. You will deliver civil and structural engineering services for high voltage assets, emphasising reinforced concrete and structural steel design, within ESB’s safety culture.

The role offers Smart Working with some in-person collaboration, nationwide travel, and potential base in Dublin or Cork. An engineering degree (Level 8 or Level 7 with experience) and 2+ years of relevant experience are

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering with Civil or Structural focus.
  • Minimum 2 years in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Full clean Irish/EU driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and/or structural steel design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide civil and structural engineering services for HV networks.
  • Prepare specifications, reports and design drawings.
  • Conduct site inspections, data collection and analysis for technical designs.
  • Coordinate inputs from sub-contractors and sub-consultants.
  • Support site investigations, feasibility, design and consenting activities.

Conceptual and detailed EngineeringDesign.

Project programming andcommercial management.

Design review forEPC and Design and Build Projects

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will cover the items below:

Provision of the requisite civil and structural technical engineering services within theNetworksHV SubSstations Civil Teamfully embracing ESB’s Safety Culture.Projects covered within the teamcan involve a range of civil and structuraldesign disciplines includingreinforced concrete and structural steeldesign.

Prepare civil and structural engineering technical specifications,reportsand design drawings.

Undertake site inspections, datacollectionand analysis tofacilitateeffective technical designs and / or technical assessments.

Specify and manage sub-contractor and sub-consultant inputsProvide input as necessaryfor site investigation, assessment, feasibility,designand consenting purposes.

Knowledge,Skillsand Experience

Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges andnew problemsto solve – working together is key. You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues.

We are looking for the followingskills.

A high level of specialist expertise,including aSstrong technical capability,in Civil or Structural engineeringwithparticularreferenceto reinforced concrete and/or structural steel design.

Strong project management and program management skills.

Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.

Strong communicationand stakeholder management skills.

Strong safety awareness and competency.

At least 2 years relevant Civil or Structural engineering experience.

A full clean Irish/EU driving licence

Flexibility to travelnationwide.

Qualifications

Level 8 Engineering Degree, Level 7 Engineering Degree with relevant experience.

The SidingsDublin2or Eastgate Cork.
