Job summary

ML, a global payments technology leader, is seeking a Senior Product Designer with strong technical depth to bridge product design and front-end engineering in Dublin. You will advance the design system onto a modern, code-integrated stack and own UI across web and mobile.

The role sits in a small digital team, requires on-site work five days a week, and runs for a 6-month contract with possible extension. A portfolio demonstrating design systems and front-end contributions is required.

Senior Product Designer – Design Systems & Front-End

Dublin, Ireland | On-site, 5 days a week | 6-month contract, extension possible | Start: 1 December 2026

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with strong technical depth to join the digital design team of a global payments technology leader. The role sits across product design and front-end engineering, and focuses on moving the design system onto a modern, code-integrated stack.

THE TEAM AND PRODUCTS

You will join a team of six designers within the Digital unit, working on global products used across EMEA:

• An international payment platform: a single point of access for every persona in the payments ecosystem
• A responsive merchant portal: small and large merchants track transactions, order terminals, generate reports, manage employees and order services
• A merchant onboarding tool for new customers
• An Android application for smart payment terminals
• A developer platform giving developers access to the company's payment APIs

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Improve the user experience through visual design suited to user needs and cognitive load
• Own the visual consistency of digital products by implementing changes to the design system
• Move the design system library onto a modern technology stack by integrating Figma properly with the development environment
• Design final UI views and assets for web and mobile
• Research, develop and deliver design solutions for acquiring portals, e-commerce and mobile applications
• Create and present interaction concepts, wireframes, prototypes and final designs
• Run user research directly with end users: design and test concepts and prototypes, uncover unmet needs and rapidly prototype solutions
• Translate findings into solutions for merchant and financial institution customers
• Analyse usability testing and research results and recommend design direction
• Track UX/UI trends and emerging technology

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Design tooling

• Advanced Figma: components, variants, auto layout, variables and modes, library management
• Figma-to-code integration, including Dev Mode and Code Connect
• Design token workflows with Tokens Studio

Design systems

• Hands-on experience using and extending a design system at scale
• Design tokens to current standards (W3C Design Tokens Community Group format)
• Token transformation and distribution with Style Dictionary
• Component documentation in Storybook

Front-end development

• HTML and CSS to production standard
• Working knowledge of a modern front-end framework: React or Angular
• Familiarity with front-end libraries and component-driven development

Development tools and lifecycle

• Node.js and npm-based tooling
• Working in an IDE (e.g. VS Code)
• Git version control with GitLab
• CI/CD pipelines and how design system changes move through them

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND

• 4+ years in product design
• Degree in interaction design, industrial design, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• A portfolio showing UI design work, including design system and front-end contributions
• Solid grounding in UX design process and user research methods
• Experience in a corporate setting within a large organisation
• Clear communicator, able to present ideas and propose solutions to stakeholders
• Proficient spoken and written English

THE ENGAGEMENT

• 6-month contract with the high possibility of extension
• Based in Dublin, on-site five days a week
