About the Role
- This is not a traditional process design role, nor is it a pure Utilities or Energy Engineering role.
- We are looking for someone who understands How Manufacturing Processes Drive Energy, Water and Utility Demand, and Who Can Develop Practical Engineering Solutions that Improve Efficiency, Reduce Carbon Emissions and Support Operational Performance.
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Process & Utilities Engineer to join our Irish team and Help Clients Improve the Efficiency, Sustainability and performance of their Manufacturing Facilities.
- The successful candidate will work directly with Major Food, Beverage and Life Sciences Clients, Leading Technical Studies from Concept through to Implementation and becoming a Trusted Technical Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Utilities Engineering
- Lead Process and Utility Assessments for Industrial Manufacturing Facilities.
- Develop Mass and Energy Balances to understand Process Performance and Utility Demand.
- Analyse steam, Hot Water, Chilled Water, Refrigeration, Compressed Air and Process Water Systems.
- Identify opportunities for energy reduction, heat recovery and utility optimisation.
- Develop concept designs and feasibility studies for decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects.
- Support detailed design where required.
Lead or support studies involving:
- Refrigeration optimisation, Thermal Storage, Water reduction, Renewable Energy Integration, Utility Master Planning. Net Zero roadmaps
Client Engagement
- Work directly with engineering, production and operations teams. Facilitate technical workshops and site assessments. Present findings and recommendations to clients.
- Build trusted relationships with client engineering teams. Support preparation of technical proposals and business development activities.
Technical Leadership
- Develop innovative engineering solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.
- Contribute to technical standards, methodologies and best practice.
- Mentor junior engineers. Support quality reviews of engineering deliverables.
Experience
Preferred candidates will have:
- 5–10 years’ experience in Industrial Process Engineering, Utilities Engineering or Energy Engineering.
- Experience within Food and Beverage, Dairy, Brewing, Distilling, Pharmaceuticals or other Process Industries .
- Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Industrial Manufacturing Processes and Industrial Utilities.
- Good understanding of Industrial Utility Systems, including Steam, Hot Water, Chilled Water, Refrigeration, Compressed Air and Water Systems.
- Experience with Mass and Energy Balances.
- Experience Identifying and Developing Energy Efficiency Opportunities.
- Ability to Develop Engineering Concepts rather than simply analyse existing systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Comfortable Working Directly With Clients and able to manage technical work independently.
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Heat recovery and Heat pumps. Industrial decarbonisation. Refrigeration systems. Utility Master Planning
- Pinch analysis or thermal integration. Energy Modelling. Process Simulation. Capital Project Delivery
- Commissioning. Process Safety or HAZOP Participation

- Support the development of junior engineers.
- Contribute to the continued growth of our energy and utilities capability.
- Help Clients Identify and Deliver Practical Decarbonisation and Efficiency Projects.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable moving from understanding a manufacturing process, to quantifying energy demand, to developing practical engineering solutions that improve plant performance.
