Job summary

Cpl Healthcare, on behalf of our engineering client, is seeking a Project Engineer to deliver energy and sustainability projects in Ireland. Hybrid work arrangement offers collaboration with industrial clients and a path to professional accreditation.

The role focuses on design, delivery, and optimisation of energy and utility infrastructure, with responsibilities from concept through commissioning and ongoing performance analysis.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Process, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Approximately 2–4 years' engineering experience, ideally in industrial, manufacturing, utilities, energy or sustainability environments.
  • Experience supporting delivery of technical engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Interest in pursuing professional accreditation or Chartered Engineer status.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering project work packages from concept to installation and commissioning.
  • Carry out technical assessments of industrial energy systems (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, HVAC, CHP).
  • Support design and optimisation of mechanical and electrical systems using engineering software and tools.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including specs, drawings, commissioning plans, and safety docs.
  • Participate in client meetings, site assessments, energy audits, and progress reviews.
  • Assist with contractor management, procurement activities, and supplier engagement.
  • Monitor project performance and analyse data to validate energy improvements.
  • Ensure activities comply with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement.

Project Engineer (Energy & Sustainability)

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading engineering and sustainability consultancy delivering energy efficiency, utility optimisation, and decarbonisation projects across the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Project Engineer to join their expanding team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take ownership of project delivery, work directly with industrial clients, and contribute to the development of innovative energy solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the design, implementation, and optimisation of energy and utility infrastructure projects while helping clients achieve their sustainability, operational, and cost-reduction objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engineering project work packages from concept and design through to installation and commissioning.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Process, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2-4 years' engineering experience, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or sustainability-focused environments.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of technical engineering projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems, ISO 50001, energy auditing, or decarbonisation programmes would be advantageous.
  • A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • An interest in pursuing professional accreditation or Chartered Engineer status.
