Job summary

RED Engineering Design in Dublin is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead the design and optimization of data centre power distribution. You will run simulations, support design teams, and ensure reliability of MV/LV networks, with emphasis on ETAP and related tools.

The role requires experience in power systems engineering, collaboration with clients and stakeholders, and a drive to stay ahead in technology, standards, and best practices. Hybrid working in Ireland is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Power Engineering.
• Proven experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the data centre industry.
• Working towards Chartered Eng status.
• Proficiency in ETAP, DigSilent or SKM for simulations and design work.
• Experience with Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Protection Coordination and Harmonic Studies.

Responsibilities

• Run computer simulations and support design teams for power systems.
• Conduct load flow and short circuit analyses to ensure reliable distribution.
• Coordinate protection systems and execute arc flash studies per safety standards.
• Perform MV/LV cable sizing and transformer/generator protection settings.
• Collaborate with design teams, respond to RFIs, and communicate requirements to stakeholders.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment and maintain documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of simulation methodologies and tools.
