Job summary

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team in our Dublin-area office. You will influence the design, testing, and deployment of our production platform at scale, helping to shape Astro, Observe, and our IDE product.

You will own critical reliability initiatives, collaborate across teams, and drive decisions that improve performance, safety, and scalability of our cloud-native data platform.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing large-scale systems.
• Experience with observability, SLIs/SLOs, and reliability practices.
• Proficiency in Python and Go; Kubernetes expertise required.
• Strong communication and ability to work with a globally distributed team.
• Commitment to reliability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Make high-quality, data-driven decisions on building this and the next generation of our production platform, then deliver the results.
• Own and build how we test, build and deploy code in a high-scale PaaS environment.
• Collaborate across the whole company on how we design production systems, set standards and make technology choices for new and existing products, and how these fit together.
• Deliver results - operate safely and reliably while adapting to changes.
• Be at the forefront of Platform Engineering teamwork and drive continuous improvement.
