Senior Platform Engineer – Market Risk Technology (Dublin – Hybrid)
We're rebuilding the engine room of a global financial institution. Not the shiny front-end stuff. The core systems that price risk, run the numbers, and keep the regulators happy.
And we need someone who actually enjoys that kind of challenge.
What you'll actually do
This isn't a \"sit at your desk and write perfect code\" role. You'll split your time between three things:
- Hands-on engineering – Modernising legacy Java applications to Spring Boot microservices. Writing Python automation to replace manual processes. Tuning SQL. Upgrading platforms. Getting your hands dirty across the full stack.
- Remediation delivery – Driving vulnerability closures, EOL upgrades, and compliance fixes from identification through to audit sign-off. This is where the real value is.
- Cross-team orchestration – Herding cats across 10+ teams (DBA, Cyber, Infra, Governance, Vendors). Nobody reports to you. You'll need to influence, negotiate, and keep things moving without throwing elbows.
What you bring
- Deep Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Flask/FastAPI) – you've built and modernised real systems in both
- Solid database experience – DB2, SQL Server, or equivalent enterprise databases with tuning know-how
- A track record of driving remediation or upgrade programmes to closure
- The maturity to talk to senior stakeholders without losing your sanity
- React or other modern UI experience? Big plus
- Market Risk or financial markets background? Even better
What's in it for you
- Work at a tier-1 name in global finance (no introductions needed)
- Real ownership of a programme that actually matters
- Hybrid setup – 3 days a week in our Dublin office (Sandyford)
- 6-month rolling contract with genuine long-term stability – we've got people in similar roles here for 7+ years
- Strong daily rate that reflects the calibre we're after
