Job summary

FIS invites a senior engineer to join a startup-backed, AI-enabled banking platform for Tier-1 financial institutions. You will build, operate and scale core banking services—accounts, transactions, journals, balances, and compliance—defining APIs and data contracts for an auditable platform.

You’ll own services through design, testing, deployment and on-call incident response, and raise the bar on observability, reliability, and production maturity while mentoring the team and advancing CI/CD

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing and building large distributed systems.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, invariants, idempotency, failure modes, and trade-offs in distributed systems.
• Production experience with on-call and incident response across boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core banking capabilities—from products and accounts to transactions, journals, balances, and compliance.
• Define reliable APIs, events, and data contracts that connect capabilities into a coherent banking platform.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call and incident response, diagnosing failures across distributed services, data infra, and event-driven workflows.
• Establish observability, alerting, operational controls, and recovery procedures to improve reliability and maturity.
• Architect for correctness, auditability, scalability and resilience at Tier-1 scale, balancing speed and maintainability.
• Improve engineering practices across automated testing, CI/CD, safe deployment, rollback, and recovery.
• Mentor and share knowledge to promote engineering best practices across the organization.
