Job summary

Fidelity Information Services, LLC (FIS) is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to build and operate a multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure for an AI-enabled banking platform. You will own GitOps delivery, observability, DR, zero-trust security, and AI-driven SRE automation, shipping code into production at scale for Tier-1 banks.

The role requires strong ownership, experience with EKS/GKE/AKS, and a track record of delivering reliable, secure platforms in hybrid or regulated

Qualifications

• Extensive Kubernetes experience across multiple regions (EKS/GKE/AKS).
• Experience with Terraform and GitOps tooling (Flux/ArgoCD).
• Familiarity with event streaming (Kafka) and distributed SQL databases.
• Programming with Go or Rust is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure (EKS/GKE/AKS) for five-nines workloads.
• Architect active-active distributed systems and implement Terraform, Helm, and Flux for GitOps across cloud/hybrid environments.
• Own DR, backup/restore, and multi-region resiliency while enforcing zero-trust security and cryptographic audit trails.
• Lead AI-driven automation, support on-prem/air-gapped deployments, and mentor the team on best practices.

Role Summary

Sits within a newly acquired startup building an AI-enabled, autonomous banking platform for Tier-1 financial institutions within the banking group. The Platform Engineer builds and operates the multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure that powers the platform at five-nines availability, owning GitOps delivery, observability, disaster recovery, zero-trust security, and AI-driven SRE automation. Ships directly into production environments at the world's largest banks.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Architecture

• Infrastructure~ Build and scale multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure (EKS/GKE/AKS) for five-nines workloads
• Architecture~ Architect active-active distributed systems
• GitOps~ Implement Terraform, Helm, and GitOps (Flux) across cloud and hybrid environments

Reliability & Security

• Resiliency~ Own DR, failover, backup/restore, and multi-region resiliency
• Security~ Drive zero-trust security, identity, multi-tenant isolation, and cryptographic audit trails
• Observability~ Build and maintain stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry

AI & Operations

• AI-SRE~ Lead AI-driven automation~ auto-remediation, incident insights, and AI-based root cause analysis
• Deployment~ Support on-prem and air-gapped deployments and legacy integrations
• Contribute to team excellence through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching, helping to develop technical capability and promote engineering best practices across the organization

Required Experience & Capabilities

Technical Expertise

• Deep Kubernetes experience (EKS/GKE/AKS; operators/CRDs a bonus)
• Terraform (multi-cloud). GitOps tooling~ Flux or ArgoCD
• Kafka / event streaming. Distributed SQL databases
• Language~ Go, Rust, or similar (AI-accelerated development welcome)

Cloud & Reliability

• Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry observability stack experience
• DR, HA, and Zero-Trust architecture design and ownership

Operating Style

• Strong ownership mindset across the full infrastructure lifecycle
• Comfortable operating in hybrid cloud and regulated environments
• AI-native engineer~ integrates LLMs and agentic workflows into daily engineering practice

IMPACT & SCOPE

• Direct impact on core banking platforms used by Tier-1 global institutions
• High autonomy and accountability within a small, senior team

The pay range for this full-time position is 92.430 EUR - 157.130 EUR and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay.
