Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking a Senior Planner (Commissioning) in Ireland. The role focuses on building and maintaining the project programme across tender, design, construction and commissioning, with regular progress reviews and change management.

You will support the project team by measuring performance, identifying risks and ensuring contractual compliance. The position involves mentoring junior planners and working with the planning department to deliver on programme milestones.

• Mentor Planners and Junior Planners; participate in training.
• Attend client programme meetings and coordinate with subcontractors.

About The Role

A Senior planner (Commissioning) is responsible for building the Project programme for their assigned projects and maintaining it regularly through the gathering of project progress and the modeling of change as it occurs, i.e. addition of variations and delays or modifications to relationship logic or durations as necessary. The Senior planner acts as a support function to the project team helping to measure performance, identify risks and to ensure compliance with the contract conditions in relation to change management. Senior Planners are expected to be able to work independently in accordance with all Company Procedures. Senior Planners have a responsibility for the mentorship and development of more junior colleagues

Job Responsibilities

• Building of project programmes (Tender/PCSA/Contract/Execution/Design/Commissioning) using programme software.
• Attendance at internal weekly project meetings.
• Gathering of accurate progress weekly including accurate start/finish dates.
• Recording and modeling delays within the programme.
• Recording and modeling variations within the programme.
• Supporting group senior management through accurate reporting and identification/escalation of project risk.
• Advancing departmental goals by actively engaging in strategic initiatives.
• Mentoring of Planners and Junior Planners.
• Attending client facing programme meetings and workshops.
• Liaising with subcontractors to include their timelines and progress into the master programme.
• Participating in internal planning workshops and training programs.
• Attending sites as often as necessary but at a minimum 1 site visit per 4 week period per project.
• Reporting to Lead Planners & Planning Manager on project and programme status and providing regular updates on same.
• Correction of errors in programmes as directed by Lead Planners & Planning Manager
• Attendance at weekly planning department meetings.
• Participation in initiatives designed to develop capabilities within the planning department and the training of graduate planners.
• Maintain good documentation and file management both in P6 database and ACC.
• Reporting regularly, internally and externally (progress updates/EHRA/4wk Lookaheads/Critical Path as well as any additional reports as required).
• Adhering to all Planning Department standards and procedures. Requirements

• Experience of using Primavera P6 and a commitment to improving knowledge of same.
• Full Knowledge of the projects within their portfolio (Project Scope, construction methodology, project risks etc.)
• In depth understanding of the project programmes within their portfolio in particular Critical Paths activities and relationships.
• A working knowledge of Forensic Delay Analysis and Delay modelling in P6. Reports to Regional Lead Planner
