Unijobs DAC on behalf of our public sector client is recruiting for a Senior Pharmacy Technician in Co. Roscommon. The role is a 6-month temporary contract with a 35-hour working week and a salary of €55,979 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in Pharmaceutical/Pharmacy Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience as Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Technician.
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare pharmacy environment.
  • Knowledge of medicines management, stock control, and pharmacy procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in dispensing individual prescriptions for patients and staff.
  • Dispensing and maintenance of specialised drugs.
  • Maintenance of stocks.
  • Sort returned drugs for recycling or destruction.
  • Participate in audit activities and protocol formation.
  • Stock rotation, stock levels, checking expiry dates, ordering stock and putting orders away.
  • Stocktaking.
  • Continuing education related to the post.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacy executive manager, Senior Pharmaceutical Technician and Pharmacist in charge.
  • Ensure training is up to date and records kept.

Job description

Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client are currently recruiting for a role of Senior Pharmacy Technician in Co. Roscommon. The position is to be filled ASAP with any interested candidates to be available to commence work immediately. The working week will consist of 35 hours, salary €55,979 per annum. Temporary 6 month contract.

*Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland at the time of application. This position is subject to Garda Vetting and Foreign Police Clearance. You will be required to obtain these prior to commencing in this role. *

The successful candidate will work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and other healthcare professionals, supporting the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services within a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Participate in dispensing individual prescriptions for patients and staff.
  • Dispensing and maintenance of specialised drugs.
  • Maintenance of stocks.
  • Take responsibility for the sorting of returned drugs for recycling or destruction.
  • Participate in audit activities and protocol formation.
  • Participate in stock rotation, stock levels, checking expiry dates, ordering stock and putting orders away.
  • Participate in stocktaking.
  • Participate in continuing education in such activities consistent with the post.
  • Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may from time to time be assigned by the pharmacy executive manager, Senior Pharmaceutical Technician and the Pharmacist in charge.
  • Ensure that all training is up to date and a record kept.

Applicants must:

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Pharmaceutical/Pharmacy Technology or an equivalent qualification recognised for appointment to the Pharmaceutical Technician grade.
  • Have relevant experience working as a Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Technician.
  • Have experience working within a hospital or healthcare pharmacy environment.
  • Have knowledge of medicines management, pharmacy procedures and stock control.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety.
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The following would be an advantage:
  • Previous experience working in a Pharmacy Department.
  • Experience with pharmacy or dispensing systems.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical stock management.
  • Experience supporting or supervising junior Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Experience in audit, quality improvement or service development.
