Job summary

St John of God University Hospital seeks a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team on a full-time, permanent basis in Ireland. This role focuses on patient-centred care and adherence to the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland codes, SOPs, and ongoing SOP development.

• Dispense in-patient, out-patient, weekend-leave and staff prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Dispense ward stock lists.
• Coordinate dispensary workflow.
• Coordinate medication ordering in a cost-efficient manner.
• Coordinate stock management processes including storage, returns, recycling, dispensary lay-out, medication waste and sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with Falsified Medicines Directive and associated processes.
• Coordinate out-of-hours trolley, first aid kits, emergency trays, patients’ own medicines.

Job description

Senior Pharmacy Technician – Full-time, Permanent

• To work collaboratively with other members of the Pharmacy team and Departments in the Hospital to ensure that patient care is central to all activities of the Pharmacy Department.
• To be fully aware of and comply with the codes of practice of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and the Mental Health Commission.
• To have full knowledge of and competently use the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures and to contribute to development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
• To perform the following dispensary duties:
