Job summary

Harvey Nash is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on optimizing payment technology systems for speed, scalability and reliability.

You will design and run performance tests, identify bottlenecks across Java applications, databases and infrastructure, and develop automation to improve testing efficiency. Strong knowledge of CI/CD, observability tools and SQL tuning is required.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and executing performance tests to drive issue resolution.
• End-to-end performance engineering across Java applications, databases and infrastructure.
• Ability to define NFRs, workload models and performance strategies.
• Strong SQL and database performance tuning experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and execute performance tests, driving resolution of performance issues.
• Identify bottlenecks across Java applications, databases, middleware and infrastructure.
• Develop performance frameworks, automation and tooling to improve testing efficiency.
• Analyse metrics including throughput, concurrency, query performance and system utilization.
• Work with development teams to define NFRs, workload models and performance strategies.
• Support capacity planning, scalability, resiliency testing and performance forecasting.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and implement automated quality gates.
• Coach junior engineers and present performance findings to technical and business stakeholders.
