Job summary

Harvey Nash in Galway is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing technology team in the financial technology sector. You will be hands-on, designing and implementing modern applications with a strong focus on backend development and AWS.

You will work on scalable systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, contribute to automated testing and maintainable code, and collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud-based solutions.

Qualifications

Strong commercial experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
Excellent experience with Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
Strong knowledge of Kafka and middleware technologies.
Strong AWS experience and exposure to cloud-based application development.
A strong focus on clean code, automated testing and maintainable software.
Stronger backend expertise is preferred, with the role being approximately 80% backend / 20% frontend.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and implement scalable software applications.
Write clean, testable and maintainable code.
Build and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot and Kafka.
Develop and integrate modern frontend applications.
Work with AWS to build and deploy cloud-based solutions.
