Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the development and continual improvement of the cost control processes.

Job Description

The role is based at the site three days per week with two days working from home. It is responsible for cost control on behalf of the contracting entity, including the leadership and management of a team of intermediate MEP quantity surveyors. The day-to-day will include the following responsibilities:

• Support the development and continual improvement of the cost control processes, procedures and policies.
• Monitor and assure compliance with cost control standards, escalating and reporting any non-conformances.
• Develop and maintain the overall MEP cost management strategy for the programme.
• Review and provide input into proposed contractor KPIs relating to cost control, expenditure, and budget management.
• Oversee the management of variations, including monthly cashflow forecasting, amendments and variances, retention, and liquidated damages as required.
• Provide advice to the risk team on the financial implications of identified and potential risks.
• Monitor anticipated final programme costs, reviewing and approving forecasts prepared by the cost management team.
• Provide a clear route for escalation on cost control matters.
• Support the contracting entity in responding to contractor claims as necessary.
• Ensure optimum value for money in procurement and delivery of the programme.
• Develop, implement and maintain processes, systems and administrative procedures to support cost reporting.
• Foster effective relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers and professional bodies.
• Provide specialist advice on claims and disputes arising under construction and consultancy contracts.
• Review schedules of rates and bills of quantities to support pre-tender estimates and budgets with commentary and recommendations.
• Review and approve monthly post-contract valuations, including cost reports, variation orders and final accounts for work packages.
