A leading international MEP contractor is looking for a experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor's to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of major projects across Europe.
The role will involve working across multiple European projects and sites, so candidates must be willing and able to travel and work away from home as required.
Projects are likely to span sectors including pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centres, advanced manufacturing and other technically complex developments.
The Role
As a MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of MEP packages throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction and procurement through to completion and final account. You’ll work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, planning and delivery teams to ensure projects remain commercially controlled, while identifying opportunities, managing risk and protecting margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Take commercial ownership of MEP packages from tender/pre-construction through to final account.
- Prepare and develop BOQs, budgets, cost plans and commercial forecasts.
- Monitor project performance against budgets, forecasts and agreed commercial targets.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, payments and final accounts.
- Lead monthly applications, ensuring remeasurements, variations, dayworks and claims are accurately captured.
- Identify, price and negotiate variations, changes and additional works.
- Manage contractual claims, including labour, material and programme-related impacts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities early and ensure they are effectively managed.
- Work closely with planning and project teams to align programme progress with commercial performance.
- Maintain accurate commercial records, cost reports and supporting documentation.
- Prepare regular commercial reports for project and senior management.
- Lead and contribute to commercial meetings with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Support procurement and subcontract negotiations where required.
- Provide commercial input into project planning, procurement and delivery strategies.
- Ensure contractual obligations, notices and commercial processes are managed effectively.
- Support the wider commercial team across European projects when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within MEP, mechanical & electrical or building services environments.
- Strong understanding of the commercial management of MEP packages on large-scale construction projects.
- Experience across sectors such as pharma, life sciences, data centres, advanced manufacturing or other technically complex projects is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, cost control, commercial reporting and procurement.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
- Good understanding of project programmes and their commercial impact.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work at pace in a live project environment.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with project and commercial teams.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction-related qualification preferred.
