Job summary

About The Role

Due to ongoing expansion and investment, Leo Lynch is looking for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer who is a self‑starter, well organised, with strong management skills, who can anticipate issues and develop appropriate contingency measures. The successful candidates will possess a blend of technical and soft skills required to succeed, have technical knowledge of mechanical engineering and project management as well as the communication skills necessary to manage the project. Candidates must be able to interact with the project and client teams and take the lead for all technical queries and issues that may arise during the project.

Responsibilities
  • Support the engineering requirements through managing & liaising with key project stakeholders (client design team, main contractor, suppliers, sub‑contractors, etc).
  • Familiarise with design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the project works.
  • Contribute to the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance, and as per schedule priority.
  • Familiarise with the project schedule and ensure engineering activities support the construction build schedule (e.g., procurement, etc).
  • Create and issue technical submittals, tracking approval for the same.
  • Engage vendors for both technical support and value engineering solutions.
  • Manage the material procurement utilising the engineering materials report (EMR) by producing material take‑offs, identifying lead times, and field need rates.
  • Manage equipment procurement and track for delivery to the site.
  • Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and to the project QA plan (e.g., pre‑agreed benchmarking).
  • Complete site audits to verify that proper processes and procedures are being followed.
  • Prepare and agree on project completion criteria and close‑out documents.
  • Prepare sub‑contract and supplier tender packages in conjunction with project QS.
  • Manage work packs from development to implementation and handover.
  • Manage BIM priorities, i.e., isometrics generation and release.
  • Liaise with clients and write up reports to present to directors and other relevant parties.
  • Schedule meetings and training sessions when necessary.
  • Coordinate with client project management teams and contractors to ensure that designs meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the construction team during the building phase of projects.
Candidate Requirements
  • Extensive experience within pharmaceutical, biopharma, life science, or similar construction environments.
  • 5+ years’ experience working with a recognized mechanical contractor in process mechanical/pipework.
  • Excellent organisational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Navisworks and database systems related to engineering functions.
  • Experience with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • The ability to motivate people.
