Job summary

Leo Lynch is seeking an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to lead multiple mechanical projects across Life Science, semiconductor, and data centre sectors. The role requires a self-starter, strong organisational skills, and a track record of delivering on time and within budget.

You will work with design, engineering and site teams, manage budgets, safety and quality, and travel within Europe as needed. A mechanical engineering degree and 10+ years in contract management are essential.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineer with a degree and extensive contract management experience.
• 10+ years as a Project/Contracts Manager in HVAC or mechanical projects.
• Experience on Life Science or large-scale semiconductor/Data Centre projects.
• Knowledge of Mechanical, HVAC and Process systems; design, install and operate.
• Strong PM skills: planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; travel across Europe.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple mechanical contracts from conception to completion.
• Coordinate with design and engineering teams to meet specs, on time and budget.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify issues, ensure safety and quality.
• Establish relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate contracts.
• Manage project budgets, cost control and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and standards, including health and safety.
• Prepare proposals and bids for new projects.
• Issue monthly progress reports to Senior Management/Directors.
• Collaborate with Directors to identify risks and find resolutions.

About the role

Due to ongoing expansion, we are looking for a Mechanical Contracts Manager who is a self‑starter and well‑organised with strong management skills who can anticipate issues and develop appropriate contingency measures. Responsibilities

• Manage multiple mechanical contracts simultaneously, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling of projects from conception to completion.
• Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure that all projects meet client specifications and are delivered on time and within budget.
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, identify and resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, and negotiate contracts and agreements as needed.
• Manage the financial aspects of each project, including cost control, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ensure that all work complies with relevant legislation, codes, and standards, including health and safety regulations.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Support in preparing proposals and bids for new projects.
• Ensure structures are put in place to monitor, review, and control the budgeted or agreed expenditure.
• Implement cost and value procedures and ensure that all necessary commercial reports are produced accurately and in a timely fashion to Senior Management.
• Work closely with the Directors and Site Managers to support and recommend strategies, to identify any potential risks or issues and to find an appropriate resolution.
• Issue monthly progress reports for Senior Management/Directors.
• Work collaboratively with Senior Management / Directors to continue to achieve business needs.
• Foster productive, collaborative partnerships with internal and external clients.

Candidate Requirements

• A mechanical background with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience as a Project / Contracts Manager in the Mechanical HVAC industry.
• Experience managing mechanical packages on Life Science or large-scale semiconductor/Data Centre projects for an M&E contractor is essential.
• Knowledge of Mechanical, HVAC, and Process systems, including their design, installation, and operation.
• Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
• Must be able to travel within Europe.
• A full driving licence.
