Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineer to support an oil refinery project in East Cork, Ireland. The role focuses on supervising mechanical installation activities, ensuring compliance with drawings, standards and safety regulations, and coordinating with design engineers to resolve technical issues.

You will mentor junior staff, manage material orders, assist in risk assessments, and support commissioning and testing of mechanical systems within a dynamic EPC environment.

Qualifications

• CSCS card and required competency certifications.
• Experience mentoring junior staff on site engineering.
• Ability to develop and implement safe systems of work for construction procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities including piping, valves, supports.
• Ensure work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, and refinery standards.
• Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of mechanical works.
• Order materials and track inventory.
• Conduct inspections and quality checks on mechanical installations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and refinery practices.
• Assist in preparing method statements and risk assessments.
• Create test packs including weld histories and hydrotest reports.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with design engineers to resolve issues and implement changes.
• Support commissioning and testing of mechanical systems.
• Maintain records of site activities and test results.
• Prepare progress reports for project management.
