Job summary

The ORS Group in Ireland is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre to lead technical reviews of mission-critical mechanical systems on large hyperscale projects. You’ll act as the client’s SME, ensuring designs, construction, commissioning and handover meet the highest standards.

This role is client-facing and focuses on leadership over drawing production. You will review designs, identify risks, and drive best practices for cooling, ventilation, BMS integration, fuel and generator

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
10+ years' experience in building services or data centre environments.
Strong knowledge of chilled water, CRAH/AHU, and cooling infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead independent technical reviews of mission-critical mechanical systems.
Review design packages, calculations, specifications and reports.
Assess systems for constructability, maintainability, resilience, and operational suitability.
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and method statements.
Support RFIs and technical queries.
Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and workshops.
Carry out site inspections and construction quality reviews.
Review commissioning plans and witness testing activities.
Participate in FAT, IST, and commissioning reviews.
Support risk management and issue resolution.
Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover docs.
Provide technical guidance to project teams and client stakeholders.
