Job summary

Johnson Controls in Dublin is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Specialist for the European Chiller Engineering Team. You will own mechanical design from concept to production, creating detailed Creo models and ensuring DFm-compliant, manufacturable products.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers across Europe, and mentor junior designers while ensuring compliance with regulations and internal standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in a mechanical design role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency in Creo (3D CAD design and drafting).
• Experience with PDM systems and engineering change processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, piping, assembly, and DFm.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of mechanical design activities for assigned projects from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain detailed 3D models in Creo, ensuring regulatory and company standards compliance.
• Develop manufacturable designs aligned with production capabilities and DFm principles.
• Design and position major chiller components, including piping, sheet metal, and subsystems.
• Collaborate with Izmir and Nantes production plants to understand constraints and capabilities.
• Ensure designs are controlled within the PDM system and document control processes.
• Support drawings, BOMs, and product documentation; identify and mitigate design risks.
• Communicate design intent across functions and international teams; mentor junior designers.
