Job summary

Johnson Controls Ireland HVAC seeks a Lead Mechanical Design Specialist to drive European chiller engineering. You will develop and maintain 3D Creo models and ensure designs meet European regulations, internal standards, and production capabilities.

Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to deliver robust products. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a manufacturing focus.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong Creo proficiency (3D CAD design and drafting).
• Experience with PDM systems and engineering change processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, piping systems, assembly methods, and DFM.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design activities for assigned projects from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D models and assemblies in Creo, ensuring compliance with European regulations and standards.
• Develop manufacturable designs aligned with production capabilities and DFM principles.
• Design major chiller components, including piping, sheet metal, and mechanical subsystems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing plants in Izmir and Nantes to understand production constraints and capabilities.
• Ensure designs are managed in the PDM system and follow revision processes.
