Job summary

Silent-Aire in Dublin seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design lifecycle for modular data centres, plantrooms and skid-mounted systems. You will apply DfMA principles to optimise for factory production, testing, transport and rapid deployment across international markets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years' experience in mechanical building services, industrial MEP design, or mission-critical projects.
• Experience delivering designs in offsite manufacturing, modular construction, or DfMA.
• Background in modular or packaged mechanical systems for data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of chilled water systems, pumping, thermal management, and cooling infrastructure.
• Ability to produce factory-ready design documentation for fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proactive, solution-focused mindset with emphasis on technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and technical delivery of modular plantrooms, packaged MEP systems, and modular data centre solutions.
• Develop robust chilled water, pumping, cooling, and heat rejection systems for mission-critical applications.
• Produce and review P&IDs, schematics, GA drawings, specs, and descriptions of operation.
• Apply DfMA principles to optimise for factory production, testing, transport, and site deployment.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, commissioning, procurement, suppliers, and project teams.
• Support technical submissions, design reviews, regulatory approvals, and client presentations.
• Drive standardisation and continuous improvement for repeatable deployment across regions.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers.
• Contribute to adoption of new technologies and innovative cooling solutions for data centres.
