Job summary

Asset Recruitment is seeking a Senior Materials Handling Systems Design Engineer for a leading global EPCM client in Ireland. You will lead the design and engineering of integrated materials handling solutions, including conveyors, ASRS, AGVs/AMRs, sortation and pallet handling systems.

You will develop layouts, perform throughput and capacity analyses, and drive technical evaluations, while collaborating with automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, software, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design and delivery of materials handling systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (BEng/BSc) in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Industrial or Automation Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and client engagement.
• Experience developing system layouts, feasibility studies and detailed engineering packages.
• Strong track record in tenders, technical proposals, and supplier evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Develop system layouts, flow diagrams, equipment specifications and design documentation.
• Conduct throughput analyses and capacity modelling to optimise performance.
• Lead equipment selection and technical evaluations for best total system performance.
• Prepare concept designs, feasibility studies, business cases, and detailed engineering packages.
• Collaborate with automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, software, and operations specialists.
• Provide technical leadership during project execution, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Engage with clients to translate operational requirements into engineering solutions.
• Support tender preparation, technical proposals, budgets and supplier evaluations.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations and quality procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement within the team.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Materials Handling Systems Design Engineer to lead the design and engineering of integrated materials handling systems, including:

• Conveyor systems
• Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
• Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
• Sortation systems
• Pallet handling systems
• Warehouse automation solutions

• Develop system layouts, flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and design documentation.
• Conduct operational assessments, throughput analyses, and capacity modelling.
• Perform equipment selection and technical evaluations to ensure optimal system performance.
• Prepare concept designs, feasibility studies, business cases, and detailed engineering packages.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, software, and operations specialists.

Requirements:
