Job summary

Freudenberg Medical Ireland Ltd. is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. The role emphasizes Lean and Six Sigma methods, mentoring, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, cost-efficient production.

You will set priorities, transfer new parts into manufacturing, and use data to raise reliability and performance while developing engineering staff.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
  • Strong experience in continuous improvement, structured problem-solving and data-driven process improvement.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies knowledge; relevant qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to build capability and integrate with the wider production team.
  • Drive sustaining and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes focusing on Safety, Quality, Service and Cost.
  • Set clear engineering priorities aligned with site and business goals.
  • Lead structured problem-solving to identify robust, long-term solutions.
  • Identify and deliver process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Oversee New Part Introduction (NPI) with Prototyping/NPI team for successful transfer to manufacturing.
  • Use data and metrics to identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and reliability.
  • Coach and develop Engineers and Technicians through mentoring and training.

Responsibilities

  • Experience mentoring, coaching or providing technical leadership to other engineers; previous formal people management experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong experience in continuous improvement, structured problem-solving and data-driven process improvement.
  • Knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; relevant qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and working effectively across Manufacturing, Quality, NPI and other cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, support and develop others.
