Job summary

Freudenberg Medical Ireland Ltd. is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive site-wide lean initiatives in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. You will identify waste, lead Kaizen events and implement LPMS and LCIA projects to improve efficiency, quality and cost.

You will collaborate with manufacturing teams, apply 5S/MDI tools and use data-driven problem solving to deliver measurable results while fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or Life Sciences with Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, MDI, 3P and structured problem solving.
  • Experience leading improvement projects and bringing cross-functional teams together to deliver measurable results.
  • Experience with digitalisation, RPA and data-driven problem solving is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 / FDA QMSR is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Identify waste and turn improvement opportunities into practical, measurable results across the site.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects from idea through to implementation to boost efficiency, productivity, quality and cost.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and coach teams to translate ideas into action.
  • Embed Lean methodologies and standard work within manufacturing operations.
  • Support development of LPMS and scalable continuous improvement processes.
  • Explore automation ideas via LCIA and RPA from concept to implementation.
  • Use data and Lean tools to build improvement plans and share results with stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement across functions and levels.

Join our team as a: Continuous Improvement Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Make a visible impact across the site by identifying waste and turning improvement opportunities into practical, measurable results
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects from idea through to implementation, improving efficiency, productivity, quality and cost
  • Bring teams together to facilitate Kaizen events, challenge current ways of working and quickly turn ideas into action
  • Work directly with manufacturing teams and process owners to embed Lean methodologies and standard work into everyday operations
  • Help shape and develop our Lean Production Management System (LPMS), supporting teams to build sustainable ways of working
  • Explore smarter ways of working through Low Cost Intelligent Automation (LCIA), taking automation ideas from concept through to implementation
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate processes through digitalisation and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
  • Get hands-on with manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, reduce engineered waste and improve overall process flow
  • Use data and Lean problem-solving tools to build improvement plans, demonstrate impact and share results with key stakeholders
  • Champion a culture of Continuous Improvement, working cross-functionally to encourage new ideas, challenge the status quo and make improvements that last
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Life Sciences or a related discipline, combined with relevant Continuous Improvement / Lean experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, MDI, 3P and structured problem solving
  • Lean Systems Black Belt and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or equivalent practical Lean experience
  • Experience leading improvement projects and bringing cross-functional teams together to deliver measurable results
  • A track record of driving change and translating improvement opportunities into tangible improvements in quality, efficiency, cost or productivity
  • Strong communication, coaching and facilitation skills, with the confidence to engage, train and influence colleagues at all levels
  • Good technical and systems capability, with experience using business, quality or manufacturing systems and data to support decision-making
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; experience with Visual Management, 5S, MDI or regulated manufacturing environments such as ISO 13485 / FDA QMSR would be an advantage
