Job summary

Abbott in Ireland is seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to maintain plant and equipment across the Cootehill site. The role focuses on preventing downtime, executing PM checks, and supporting cGMP compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will install, inspect, adjust, and troubleshoot mechanical systems, read diagrams, work with platforms and ladders, and assist in training apprentices while upholding safety and environmental standards at all times.

Qualifications

• Recognized mechanical apprenticeship required.
• Senior or junior trades certificates in mechanical craft also acceptable.
• Proven ability reading diagrams and troubleshooting equipment.
• Six months on the job experience in a mechanical role.
• Ability to work on platforms, scaffolding and ladders.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Minimise downtime in production and utility areas.
• Install, inspect, adjust, lubricate, troubleshoot and repair plant equipment.
• Perform routine PM checks and maintain plant at optimum performance.
• Independently create work plans and complete tasks with little supervision.
• Conduct low complexity electrical or mechanical works.
• Update PMs and contribute to training materials for operators.
