Job summary

Northern Trust Corp. seeks a senior security development and automation engineer to build AI-enabled security workflows, API integrations, and automation patterns that strengthen cyber defense and reduce manual workload.

You will partner with security architecture, cloud security, IAM and governance teams to implement reusable automation standards, secure engineering practices and observable processes while ensuring compliance and risk reduction.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, or related tech disciplines.
• Hands-on Python development, API consumption, automation testing and supportability.
• Experience integrating security platforms via REST APIs, ITSM and cloud services.
• Knowledge of LLM-enabled solution patterns, AI agent workflows and prompt engineering.
• Ability to deliver in regulated environments with audit-ready evidence and change management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support security development and automation capabilities.
• Create secure API integrations connecting security platforms and IT systems.
• Engineer AI-enabled workflows for security triage, remediation and evidence collection.
• Document architecture, runbooks and reusable patterns for support and governance.
• Contribute to platform roadmaps with practical engineering input.
