Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Principal, Security Development & Automation in Limerick to lead automation-driven security initiatives. You will design AI-enabled workflows, API integrations and playbooks that strengthen cyber defense and reduce manual work, while ensuring auditability and policy alignment.

The role requires deep expertise in Python, REST APIs, and security platform integrations, with mentoring responsibilities across security engineering, cloud and risk teams.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering or security automation.
• Hands-on Python development, API consumption and automation frameworks.
• Experience integrating security platforms through REST APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence across teams in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Protect Northern Trust by engineering automation-first security capabilities.
• Design and deliver AI-enabled workflows, API integrations and playbooks.
• Develop secure, auditable automation assets for scalable security operations.
• Lead vulnerability scanning/remediation solutions and integration patterns.
