Job summary

Axway in Ireland (Dublin) seeks a Senior Java Developer to design, build, and optimize backend services and APIs for a cloud-native API management platform. You will influence architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Proficiency in Java with strong multithreading and performance tuning.
• Experience with API design (REST, gRPC) and integration patterns.
• Hands-on with Valkey (or Redis), MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, incl. query optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native deployments.
• Experience with observability tools to ensure reliability and traceability.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and related tech.
• Build and optimize platform components like API gateways and data access layers (MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
• Write clean, well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Contribute to system design and technical direction with principal engineers and architects.
• Participate in design reviews focusing on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous learning.
• Implement observability practices (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to monitor health and performance.
