Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a global tech team in Dublin. You will design, develop, and optimize cloud-based backend services using Java and AWS within a modern SaaS platform.

You will collaborate with architects, DevOps, frontend engineers, and QA to deliver scalable, reliable software. Strong experience with Spring Boot, APIs, CI/CD, and container technologies is essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering in backend or SaaS/cloud environments.
• Strong Java development experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate.
• Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and modern architecture.
• Experience with AWS and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Git, Maven or Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices.
• Observability and performance tuning experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build RESTful APIs, integrations, and data-processing services.
• Write clean, well-tested, scalable code.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, DevOps, QA, frontend teams.
• Participate in design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Analyze and optimise performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Support AI-assisted software development practices.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and observability tooling.
• Improve monitoring, metrics, and logging across systems.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to CI/CD improvements.
