Job summary

Jobgether has partnered with a client to hire a Senior Java Engineer (Payments) based in Ireland. You will design and deliver secure, scalable payment platforms for global financial services clients, taking end-to-end ownership of mission-critical systems.

You will lead architectural decisions, build robust integrations, ensure security and regulatory compliance, and drive CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted development across multiple platforms and clients.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of professional Java development experience including design/ownership of complex systems.
• Hands-on payments/fintech experience and familiarity with transaction lifecycles and regulatory constraints.
• Strong Java 21+ and Spring Boot expertise for RESTful and event-driven microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, enterprise-grade Java applications with Spring Boot.
• Define service boundaries, data models, and integration patterns for reliable systems.
• Deliver payment technology solutions with external APIs and providers.
• Ensure performance, security, and regulatory compliance across platforms.
• Develop event-driven processing using Apache Kafka and idempotent design.
• Lead architectural decisions and mentor engineers to raise standards.
