Job summary

Toast is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Identity Management team in Dublin. You will help design, deploy and maintain high‑performance microservices handling user management, authentication and permissions.

The role emphasizes reliability, scalability and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. You'll optimize systems processing millions of requests daily and contribute to secure, resilient services.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java or Kotlin with strong testing, quality and best practices.
• Deep understanding of microservices, distributed systems and enterprise messaging.
• Experience with asynchronous communication tools such as Pulsar, JMS or Kafka.
• Proven track record delivering reliable services to production.
• Excellent communication skills for non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for technology and continuous learning.

• Commitment to scalable, clean code and team growth.
• Ability to tackle complex problems and share knowledge across the team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with UX, PM, QA and engineers to build scalable microservices and mobile/web apps.
• Help evolve the tech stack while delivering world-class applications.
• Champion quality practices like integration and unit testing.
• Address scaling challenges with robust solutions.
• Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews.
• Monitor feature rollouts to ensure customer success and iterate.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient systems critical to customers.
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks and optimise throughput.
• Ensure production work is well-monitored and supported.
• Mentor other team members.
