Senior I&C Engineer – Pharma Process Automation

Job summary

IPS-Integrated Project Services in Dublin seeks an I&C Engineer II to lead automation design for pharmaceutical and biotech projects. You will apply DCS, PLC, and SCADA expertise to deliver robust process control systems and support validation efforts.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, develop URS, assist P&IDs/FRS, assess risks, and support IQ/OQ activities while upholding IPS standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of experience with industrial process control systems incl DCS/PLC/SCADA; 5 years pharma instrumentation preferred.
• Expertise in engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (CAD).
• Experience with cGMP and GAMP automation lifecycle documents.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with senior-level contacts.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation engineering support for mid-to-complex process projects.
• Develop URS based on customer needs.
• Collaborate with process design and project teams to enable studies.
• Design and specify DCS, PLC, SCADA systems.
• Coordinate with client to define control concepts and architectures.
• Identify and engage third-party system integrators.
• Review construction budgets based on scope.
• Promote use of company design standards.
• Support business development: proposals, estimates, presentations.
• Assist in P&IDs and Functional Requirements Specifications.
• Work with end users and OEMs to apply automation products.
• Support risk assessments: SIL, LOPA, HAZOP.
• Assist IQ/OQ development and validation activities.
